june swept me up and i couldn't find a nice time to sit down and catch up on here until now! busy af month because so many events and things going on. had a very nice birthday and awesome time spending time w partner and my family throughout the month. really liking the new mario kart, i could write a whole blogpost about my thoughts on the design choices and everything i've been liking about it so far. i think i'll do more fun stuff like that w my blogposts once my money is up.
still chipping away at the video i was workin on last month! got a decent chunk done throughout june. usually around my bday i have pressure on myself to finish a project or something before i turn another year older but this year i was able to look past that and realize that it's fine if im inbetween projects and looking for a job to have while i build up my personal stuff. age is an arbitrary thing to measure my progress and i'm alright with where i'm at rn.
near the end of the month i hunted like hell on many different art/animation job websites in search of anything that i would fw and be a good fit for. sent many many emails and applied to many different things but didnt get much back. i even thought about contacting my old evil ass job from last year... but thankfully i am not foolish enough to do that. dry job hunt is no sweat tho. industry is collapsing and jobs are scarce even for seasoned industry vets and i do not live in LA. so i never beat myself up abt this kinda stuff since that's just the landscape rn. just wanna explore all the angles i could do this and if it is not the way then i gotta find a new career path.
after turning over many stones i eventually turned to the dark arts... craigslist. there were only a few listings that were alright and i looked into them and i was crazy lucky to have found a gig teaching blender game-art/asset classes online! what a great fit. i'm set up to start teaching in august if all goes well on their end.
lowkey fricked up and double booked myself last weekend and finished the short i was doing w eli the same weekend i was doin a game jam w my homie josh. me n eli's short turned out nice and me n josh r gonna finish da game anotha day. gonna chill and wrap up dis video and hopefully launch a patreon by the end of this month so i can tap into the current payout rate before the fee goes up next month. aight see u at the end of the month for real.
